Thousands of Australian workers are told they're NOT eligible for $1500 JobKeeper payment

Thousands of Australian workers have been hit for six by a government change in eligibility rules for the $1500-a-fortnight JobKeeper allowance as the pandemic continues to drive huge increases in unemployment. Approximately 5,500 workers at Dnata (right), which supplies frozen meals to businesses like Qantas, received the news they were no longer eligible for the payment on Monday, because they work for a firm that is wholly owned by a foreign government.

Wonder what is going on, my first post has gone!

Now we read this news item!!!

Millions of hard-hit Australians will start receiving $1,500 JobKeeper payments TODAY - and here's what to do if you haven't got yours

More than 73,000 businesses and 4.7million employees will benefit from the Federal Government's wage subsidy scheme which was rolled out on Wednesday.

How do you think pollies score more goals? Because they move the goalposts when required.

My question is; Who allowed a foreign government to start/buy a business, such as Dnata, in Australia? If government ownership was so vital why did not our own government take ownership. I have always had reservations about the motives of foreign companies, with close ties to their home governments, purchasing/leasing/taking control of Australian assets. Strategic businesses and food production seem to be prime targets for foreign takeovers. Virgin is 90% owned by foreign entities which have ties with their own governments who wanted our government to bail them out of their fiscal irresponsibility. Why did our governments allow foreign companies take control of our ports? Apart from the financial aspects of sending profits overseas what about the information aspects, being informed of all shipping movements (I hesitate to use the word espionage as the operators get this information openly). We have trillions of dollars in superannuation savings but still the need of 'foreign investment' seems to be the mantra spouted by governments of all persuasions. Why?

Do not trust governments that end in -ist. Check: communist, socialist, fascist, nationalist, falangist etc.

Deal with democratically elected governments only. But that way maybe the return is not that good.
