The hoops Prince Harry has to jump through
Yesterday the palace confirmed that Prince Harry is engaged to his American girlfriend Meghan Markle.
The fifth-in-line to the British throne had to secure the permission of his fiancée’s parents and the official consent of the Queen, required by the UK Royal Marriages Act which states the first six in line to the throne must obtain consent to marry.
There are still a number of other hurdles he must organise before they can enjoy their day of wedded bliss, though.
Having been born and raised in LA, Ms Markle will need a fiancée settlement visa and a marriage visa to live in the UK, AP reports.
They will also need a special wedding license from the Archbishop of Canterbury if they want to marry in a church like Westminster Abbey because of her divorce from American film and TV producer Trevor Engelson.
Westminster Abbey officials have already indicated Ms Markle’s divorce won’t be an issue if she weds Prince Harry in a church.

What do you think about the next royal wedding? Do you even care?
They are both admirable young men. However I don't believe this union will last given all the circumstances of the woman he has chosen. I feel that a strong-minded independent woman of her age is a different kettle of fish from Kate who was long-term groomed for the royal lifestyle. If Harry's marriage doesnt work nothing could be worse for him after all he and his brother have been through.
