The names that no one saw coming for Royal baby
The establishment favourites didn’t get a look-in in the naming of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new baby boy. Alexander, James, Arthur, Albert and Spencer were totally overlooked in favour of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. And the names were announced on Instagram. What isn’t?
So is there family history behind the names? While Archie is plain Archie, Archibald comes from the Old German word Ercanbald meaning “true and bold”. Harrison is, of course, son of Harry. Mountbatten-Windsor, according to Wikipedia, is the personal surname used by male-line descendants of the Queen and Prince Philip, when the individual does not have a royal title.
Archie was 33rd on the list of baby names last year, according to McCrindle’s Baby Names Australia 2018.

I laughed when I first heard it, putting it down to the parents thumbing their noses at royal naming protocol. Then the penny dropped -- My grandfather's name was Archie Lester and so loved his name they called him George for as far back as I can remember!
