This expensive 'fruit' is about to be cheaper than ever
Are you a fan of the avocado? I don't like the texture, but I love making home-made guacamole, so I have a foot in both camps.
The expensive avocado has been blamed for younger generations being unable to afford to buy a house, but things are about to look up for lovers of the fruit as growers are reporting abundant supplies this season.
Australians currently consume 4kg of avocados per person, and by 2021/22 this figure is likely to rise to 5.0kg per person.
"Lovers of Aussie avocados are really in the best place right now," Avocados Australia CEO John Tyas said.
"Consumers right now can buy quality Australian avocados and, because of the nature of supply, they're awesome value for money right now."
Are you an avocado lover? Would you consume 4kg of avocados in a year?
I am an Avocado lover
I grow Avos in the garden, I swap Avos with my neighbour, I buy Avos at the market and the grocery store.
I eat Avos with my salads, I eat Avos with eggs on toast and eat Avos in my cooked meals
I think I might eat my 4kg of Avos plus somebody elses share :)
