Wedding perks/rorts

A Turnbull government MP under fire for using parliamentary perks to attend his own wedding is facing fresh questions after it was revealed taxpayers also footed the bill for his wife to fly home with him after the ceremony.

Liberal MP Steve Irons charged taxpayers $1346 for a flight to Victoria to wed Melbourne-based real estate agent Cheryle Street at Crown Casino in October 2011, spending a further $912 for his return flight home about one week later.

Any Labor MPs done anything naughty lately???

Look over there!

Senator Dystardi is a paid spokesman for China against his own parties policies . No matter how much you want to divert our glaze from this its a truth .

MPs fool the system

If you're unemployed and apply for the taxpayer-funded Newstart allowance you will need to fill out an application form that enforces a strict set of rules so you don't get one cent more than you are entitled to. And if you do try to fool the system, you will be shown no mercy.

Meanwhile, if you are a politician the rules for the reimbursement of taxpayer-funded travel expenses are so conveniently ambiguous MPs are able to fool the system and claim for more than they are ethically entitled to. Membership of the political class has its benefits.

Listing his own wedding and air fare for his new bride to Perth is fraud. Its certainly not govt business or electoral business. To me that is fraud plain and simple. Man bites dog is a comical headline and clerical error shows MP spent too much of his own money would be similar.

I am sick to death of all the pollies that lie / cheat and rob and are only in it to line their own pockets -- they ALL do it -- and I am over the &^%$)*@  lot of them!

Totally agree....It is no wonder people were looking at "alternatives" when they voted in the last election and I fully expect at the next one we will see even more going away from the major parties.

Radish I know I will never vote for a major party ever again

.... vote for the Sex Party!  - lol lol lol ...maybe they will have a "mooning" ceremony if they get elected?..... arghhhhhhhhh ....   :-) :-)

Actually the Sex party have a lot of very good ideas -- that don't relate to sex at all  -- I have no idea why they called themselves that as it turns one off them

Yes, you are correct PlanB.  I also had a look at their policies prior to the last election.  Maybe they need to change their name.

haha good one.
