CANCELLED WITHOUT WARNING!
My husband and I got re-assessed without warning last week and they cancelled our newstart and healthcare cards with out warning also! Charming just before Christmas! I have just spent the remainder of last week finding out the reason, and now I have to phone Centrelink first thing tomorrow morning and also upload documents that support our claim that their re-valuing of our assests was incorrect. How can they do this without warning, shouldn't they send you and email to warn you if they cannot get you on the phone? I wouldn't treat anyone this way, it sounds legally wrong, even the phone, power, and other companies give you fair warning but not Centrelink, they just have too much power and not enough staff! They managed to send me an email to tell me that we our benefits were cancelled why couldn't they have warned us of a re-assessment? If we don't get re-instated this week I am off to Legal Aid! Not a Merry Christmas this year!
My understanding is.. the people who are going to lose their pension or part thereof are those who shouldn't be getting it anyway.
I have read somewhere on this forum that single people who own their own home and have $250,000 in assets for example... will not be affected...surely that's fair?
